About this event

We are happy to announce that this year DYE DAY will be Saturday July 20th from 9-4 in backyard of the Old Aurora Colony Museum.  We will be using our 3 pop-up tents and maybe a couple from the museum to cover the guild area to provide shade.

The Guild provides all equipment and supplies.  We even have a small amount of wool roving available if you do not have any in your home stash for acid dyeing.

While we do not have every color of acid dye available, there are many colors on hand.  Use our guild dye supplies and stoves.  Be an adventurous dyer!  Or, you are welcome to bring your own dyes from home if you just want to use the guild stoves.

There will be four 1-1/2 hour slots at the dye pots that will accommodate 24 guild members with times at 9:00, 10:30, 12:00 and 1:30.  Only Guild members will be able to dye on Dye Day.

Would you like to bring your own dye equipment? There will be 3 spaces available for those who have their own equipment, you will need to bring your own table and since spaces for these are not under the tents you will need to bring your own shade if this is an issue.

Reservations will be required so please sign up on the calendar. These will be the only areas that will be available for members to have their own equipment.
If you would like to come and spin, please sign up on the calendar, this is recommended but not required.  Also, you are welcome to come and observe or visit with fellow guild members.

Volunteers will be needed for this to be a success.
Many opportunities are available from setup on Saturday morning (setting up of pop-up tents, dye stations and equipment) as well as cleanup at the end. Volunteers can sign up on the calendar as well.

There will be no Kitchen Hospitality at this event so you will need to bring your own food and beverages.

The museum will be open so a restroom will be available.

This year we are excited to have a couple dye demonstrations.

1). Sue Gee will be showing and discussing Dyeing with Mushrooms.  I can’t wait to learn more.

Sue is making up the dye liquor ahead of time but will be dyeing the samples as part of her demonstration.
> Sue : 1pm -3pm.

2).  Diane McKinnon is a long-time guild dye wizard, and will demonstrate:

* "Intro to the Color Wheel" at 10:00 am

* "1 Pot Wonder" (9 different fibers in 1 dye pot) at 11:00 am

No sign up required for demo’s; just show up to take advantage of their vast knowledge of dyeing..
